Wahi Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahi guru Ji Ki fateh:- i would like to congratulate makers of this site, they have done a great job by putting this site on the web, so that people who realy dont know enouh about Bhatra Sikhs and their proper character they can and what they went through to keep the Sikhi in it's right perspective way. it gives the wider public a chance to read and widen their knowledge about our baradri. reading some of the comment on the guest book, and going through the picture gallery it reminds me of the time when i came to Manchester in 1959 and later how our people were discriminated against when looking for work. My father was the First Bhatra Sikh High priest of the sikh temple in Monton st manchester. the foundation of the Sikh Temple laid by four of elders of that time in Manchester, this Sikh Temple belongs to all the Bhatra Bradari resident in Uk, because collection was made from every town in the British Isles and all the Bhat sikh who were resident in the uk at that time in 1953 donated whatever they could (10/s) and even one Half crown was donated towards the building. on a big sheet of paper it had all the names of the donaters and the towns in which they lived. before this Mr. Bhil Singh Landa who was one of the founder members of the Gurdwara used to Hold Diwans at his residence in Monton St each Sunday wher all sikhs and others were invited to take part in the prayers. even at that time there used to be one Pakistani muslim wrestler who attended regular diwan and later was a regular attendee on sunday in the gurdwara. this gurdwara was the first one in Britain after the shepherds bush dharamsala where most of our bhat bradri also played a major roll and had a large contingent. once again i would like to thank the people who have taken ardous task and created this site and given the younger generation of today to up-date themselves with knowledeg of their ancestors. one of the sugestions was that lot of people have pictures of the yester years of their past they should be afforded the opportunity to post them on the website so that our history could be brought together. WAHI GURU JI KA KAHLSA, WAHI GURU JI KI FATEH

I'm full of appreciation of this website. I'm certainly proud of my heritage. My paternal grandfather is pictured in the Monton Street Gurdwara and my dad is the little boy. Read the book 'The Sikhs in Britain', it has a library of black and white pictures, worth reading.
